Interpretive shoe dictionary to help manufacturers and retailers
The Czech Footwear and Leather Association (ČOKA) is a partner in an international ERASMUS+ project called DicSHOEnary. The output of this project will be a language guide with a complete overview of the professional vocabulary for footwear and leather in English and in the languages of the partners.
The modern language guide will contain approximately 3,000 technical terms with explanations in English that are used in footwear manufacturing, technology, materials, but also in design, research, teaching and trading of footwear on a wholesale and retail scale. As already mentioned, this will not be a mere translation of the terms, but a technical explanation of them, possibly accompanied by the necessary pictures. The multilingual footwear handbook will also be usable for mobile applications and will be the main output of this project.
The working group is composed of professors of technical universities, teachers of technical subjects, experts, managers of commercial and research institutes. A wide range of professionals from different backgrounds ensures the quality of the output document. The translated terms will be complemented by pictures, drawings, diagrams, available videos and links to interesting websites.
National versions of the Interpretive Shoe Dictionary will be evaluated through pilot projects to be organised in each partner country. Approximately 20 people from each partner country are expected to participate in the pilot projects. Pilot testing will therefore soon take place in our country. A meeting of all project investigators is scheduled for 8-9 September 2022 in Istanbul at the TASEV School.
Expected duration of the project 1.1.2021 - 29.6.2023
